The Information
Fair Trader Scheme (IFTS) ensures that re-users of public sector
information, can be confident that they will be treated reasonably
and fairly by public sector information providers. All Crown bodies
that have a licensing delegation from HMSO must join the Scheme,
but it is open to most public sector organisations to join voluntarily.
To be recognised as an Information Fair Trader, an organisation
will:
- Make a commitment to fair
trader principles;
- See the commitment independently verified;
- Investigate complaints
that the commitment has not been met.
Since
the introduction of the IFTS in 2002, five verifications have been
carried out by the verification team. A report on the review of
the first four verifications is available to download.
